Overview

Dr Wanqing Zhao received the B.Eng. degree in automation from Anhui Polytechnic University, China, in 2006 and the M.Eng. degree in control theory and control engineering from Shanghai University, China, in 2009. After that, he came to the UK for studying a PhD degree at the Queen’s University of Belfast in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science. The PhD research was based on a Science Bridge project at Queen`s, which was one of the only four awarded by the Research Councils UK for research collaboration and knowledge transfer with leading Chinese Universities, research institutions and industry. Since graduated from Queen’s, Dr Zhao came to Loughborough University, working as a Research Associate in Artificial Intelligence for one year. After that, he joined Cardiff University within the School of Engineering, working in the field of water resource management using artificial intelligence techniques. His primary research interests cover a wide range of multidisciplinary themes, particularly in the fields related to artificial intelligence, such as water resource management, fuzzy systems, neural networks, machine learning, autonomous systems, and various optimisation methods.
