Overview
I am a Lecturer in the School of Engineering. My research focusses on high frequency power amplifiers
I am the Deputy Research Group Leader of the Centre for High Frequency Engineering:
https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/research/explore/research-units/centre-for-high-frequency-engineering
I have published around 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers, of which more than 40 on international journals. I am co-author of the books "Electronics for Microwave Backhaul" and "Telecommunication Electronics" published by Artech House.
I am Year Tutor for the MSc courses related to Microwave and Wireless technologies and Compound Semiconductor Electronics.
I teach master-level modules on advanced microwave techniques, and undergraduate modules on Analogue and Digital Electronics.
Biography
I graduated cum laude in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2008.
I obtained my PhD from Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 2012, where I have been working on power amplifier design, characterization and linearization.
From 2012 to 2014 I have been a Post-Doc fellow at Politecnico di Torino.
In 2015 I joined Huawei Technologies, where I designed millimetre-wave components for 5G prototypes.
I started my position at Cardiff University in September 2015 with a MSCA Fellowship from the European Union. The 2-year project PADWIC treated theory and techniques in power amplifier design for high frequency telecom applications, based on hybrid and integrated technologies.
In February 2017 I have been appointed as a Lecturer at the Schoool of Engineering of Cardiff University, a role that I started in September 2017.
I am in the review panels of the European Microwave Conferences, and a regular reviewer for the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques and the IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters.
I am a member of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society Technical Committe 12 "Microwave high-power techniques", with which I regularly organize workshops and special session at the main conferences in the sector.
I am currently a special-issue editor for the MPDI Journal "Electronics", and the Co-Chair of PAWR 2021.
Honours and awards
2009 Young Graduated Research Fellowship presented by the GAAS Association.
2015 Individual Fellowship supported by the European Union in the Marie Sklodowska Curie scheme
Professional memberships
IEEE Member
Committees and reviewing
I am an elected member of the IEEE MTT Technical Committee MTT-5 MICROWAVE HIGH-POWER TECHNIQUES
I am a reviewer for the EPSRC.
I am a reviewer for the IEEE Transaction on Microwave Theory and Techniques and the IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters. I am in the reviweing board for the European Microwave Week.

Undergraduate teaching:
I teach analogue and digital electronics (EN1082/EN2078 and EN1083/EN2079) in the first year to Electronic, Integrated and Medical Engineering students.
Post-Graduate teaching:
I teach CAD and simulation software (ENT672), instrumentation (EN799/EN4089), modelling and measurement of solid state devices (ENT610/EN4910), and high frequency power amplifiers (ENT898) to MSc and MEng students in the areas of Microwave and Wireless, Communication Technologies and Compound Semiconductor Electronics.
I am year tutor for the MSc in these areas.
