Overview
I have a background in Information Security and Software Engineering having studied both at university (BSc and MSc respectively) and worked in software development teams within the cyber industry for five years before transitioning to academia. As of November 2022, I am now working as a Teaching Associate within the School of Computer Science and Informatics and will also be studying a part time PhD from 2023.
I am a novice speaker at tech conferences, and so far has spoken at events such as Infosecurity Europe 2022, Digital Transformation Expo (DTX) 2022, FemTechConf 2020, PyCon 2019, and BSides Cymru in both 2019 and 2021. Subjects I have spoken about include Quantum Encryption, SCADA System Security, Secure Coding, Diversity in Tech, and Accessibility vs Security.
I have been a STEM Ambassador with the Welsh hub: See Science since 2018. I have taught sessions about cryptography and coding for primary school children, been a guest speaker at both the NCSC's CyberFirst Summer Course (for school children aged 11-17) and the UK Cyber Security Forum training (to get neurodiverse individuals into cyber), and volunteered at science fares and events such as the CISCO Kids in IT day.
