Overview
I am a clinical midwife and postdoctoral research associate in Healthcare Sciences in Cardiff University. I am passionate about retaining my clinical role as a midwife alongside working as a researcher.
I use mixed methods research to explore the experiences of women and midwives in relation to maternity care. My research interests and expertise include antenatal care, early labour and induction of labour and perinatal mental health.
My research aims to inform healthcare services, with the aim of improving the support we provide out perinatal population.
As a research associate I oversee the Welsh Hub for ABA-feed, a multisite study led by Professor Kate Jolly from Birmingham University. This RCT aims to assess the clinical and cost-effectivenss of assets based infant feeing intervention and involves three health boards in Wales.

Visit our institutional repository.My research interests in perinatal mental health developed whilst working as a research midwife supporting a study led by Professor Ros John, Cardiff University. This study explored the relationship between placental epigenetics and maternal mental health.
In 2016 I was awarded a RCBC fellowship to undertake a full time PhD at Cardiff University to develop my research interest in perinatal mental health. My thesis is entitled ‘mothers mood Study: women's and midwives' experiences of perinatal mental health and service provision. Data collection included surveys with pregnant women and midwives, interviews with women and focus groups with midwives.
In my current role as a research associate I oversee the Welsh Hub for ABA-feed, a multisite study led by Professor Kate Jolly from Birmingham University. ABA feed is a RCT aims to assess the clinical and cost-effectiveness of assets based infant intervention. As well as supporting the three health boards recruitment, I am involved in the process evaluation of the study.
My research interests include antenatal care of pregnant women, women's and midwives experiences, relationships between women and midwives, service provision and perinatal mental health.
