Overview
I am a lecturer in Geoenvironmental Engineering and working with Geoenvironmental Research Centre. I am primarily into experimental and numerical studies to simulate the complex geochemical processes associated with resource extraction from industrial, mineral and mining wastes, with the philosophy of coupled phenomena in multiphase geomaterial.
My primary research interests are
- emerging contaminants
- environmental disaster (emergency) management (i.e., wildlife fire, landfill fires, etc.)
- coupled phenomena in multiphase porous media
- geoenvironmental issues in mining (heap leaching, mine backfilling and wastewater management)
- alternative resource management and valorisation of industrial by-products
- efficient design and sustainable operation and maintenance of solid waste landfills
- problematic geomaterials (i.e., dredged sediments, water and wastewater treatment sludges)
- degradation of organic matter and clean energy
Areas of expertise
- non-destructive monitoring
- multiphysics modelling
- solid waste management
- multivariate statistics
- sensors for environmental monitoring
- multiphase geomechanics
- bio-geo interface
