Overview

I am an EPSRC Research Associate in mechanical engineering, working with the Applied and Computational Mechanics research group. I work with industrial partners and academic collaborators on the topics of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber-physical Systems, Computer Vision, Internet-of-things (IoT), Structural Health Monitoring, Ultrasonic Waves and Acoustic Emission. There are research positions and PhD studentships that are available in our research group. I have over 40 publications in international journals, conference proceedings, book chapters, book and thesis.

My primary research interests are as follows -

  • Structural Health Monitoring is a significant area of interest, especially for aerospace applications where AI-based intelligent monitoring systems for structures integrated within an IoT framework would help in the development and fail-safe operation of the next smart structures.
  • Computational modelling and digital twin is receiving increasing attention in high-tech applications because it enables simulation of a products’ operation in a virtual environment in a parametrized space that captures both design features and operational conditions. This requires advanced computational modelling techniques including reduced-order modelling to have a sleek, interactive model in real-time.

Areas of expertise

  • Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) & Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE)
  • Reduced-order Computational Modelling
  • Smart Sensing Systems
  • Nonlinear Ultrasonics
  • Robust Optimization
  • Acoustic Emission
  • Machine Learning
  • Smart Structures
