Overview

I work as a Teacher for Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture (JOMEC). I have delivered seminars on different undergraduate modules such as:

  • Doing Media Research
  • Understanding Journalism Studies
  • Media Scholarship
  • Media and Democracy
  • Branding and Identity
  • Advertising and the Consumer Society
  • History of Mass Communication and Culture

I became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and Cardiff University Education Fellow in early March 2023.

I gained a PhD in Journalism Studies from JOMEC in 2021. To see the abstract of my doctoral research, follow this link. I have a contract with a popular peer reviewed academic publisher to turn this research into a book and publish it in 2023 under the title A Democratic Approach to Religion News: Christianity and Islam in the British and Turkish Press. A manuscript based on this doctoral research is also under peer review in an academic journal. To get a flavour of my research and writing, you can check this contribution to BSA Socrel Blog.

My research interests focus on religion in the news, comparative journalism studies, and the relationship between democracy-news media-society and religion.

I am a member of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA), Religion News Association (RNA), and Sociology of Religion Study Group at the British Sociological Association (BSA Socrel).
