Overview
I am a Research Asscoiate on ASPIRE ( Accelerated Supergene Processes in Repository Engineering) Project, in the Geoenvironmental Researcg Centre, School of engineering. The aim for this project is to create a sustainable method to remeditae contaminated waste and recover the resource from the waste.
My research interests are interdisciplinary and with time have evolved from just basic sciences to applied.
Biography
I am an early career researcher, at present working as a postdoctoral Research Associate on the ASPIRE project in the Geoenvironmental Centre, School of Engineering, Cardiff University since July 2021. Following my Masters in Bio-Medical Engineering at VIT University and a masters thesis at NUS, I joined BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa campus as JRF, and SRF in the third year, on a Ministry of Earth Science (MoES) sponsored project entitled, Biological Synthesis of Metal Sulfide and Metallic Nanoparticles using Halophilic Archaeobacteria,2011-2014. I extended this work to include synthesis of nanoparticles using halophilic bacteria as part of my Ph.D. thesis. Subsequently, I was awarded the SERB National Postdoctoral Fellowship (N-PDF), ‘Nano-vehicles for siRNA delivery into mouse embryonic stem cells as potential therapeutic approach in regenerative medicine'. However, I declined this to pursue my postdoc as a Royal Society-SERB Newton International fellow on ‘New insight into the microbial transformation of selenium for bio-remediation and bio-recovery at Aberystwyth University. Whilst at Aberystwyth University, I collaborate with the Physical Sceinces department and was awarded the university research fund for 'Quantitative analysis of biologically synthesized selenium for application in Photovoltaics'.
