Overview
Laima Spokeviciute joined the Accounting & Finance Section in January 2020 from Southampton Business School. Laima received her PhD in Finance, her thesis titled The Determinants of Bank Failures in Normal and Crisis Times and the Resolution of Failed Banks, as well as her MSc in Finance and Investment from Leeds University Business School. Prior to her studies in the UK, Laima studied in her home country Lithuania, where she obtained a BSc in Economics with a specialisation in Economic Analysis from Vilnius University.
Laima's research expertise and interest lie in the generic fields of Banking, Corporate Governance, Crisis Management. She currently teaches Financial Markets and Institutions for second year undergraduate students.

I currently teach Financial Markets and Institutions for second year undergraduate students.
My research fields lie in the generic fields and banking and finance. More specifically, I am interested in bank distress and resolutions, bank regulation and supervision as well as issues in corporate governance.
My current research projects include: Long term effects of failed bank acquirers, Competitive dynamics and failed bank resolution costs, The determinants of top management team pay faultlines as well as Time weighted price discovery model.
For my research projects I work with a great team of co-authors from around the UK, as well as France.
