Overview

I joined the School of Computer Science and Informatics in 2011 as a lecturer, where I am currently a professor. Previously I was a PhD student at Ghent university from 2004 to 2008 and a postdoctoral fellow of the Research Foundation Flanders from 2008 to 2011. My research, in the area of Artificial Intelligence, focuses on reasoning with imperfect information, including various forms of commonsense reasoning. This involves the combination of techniques and ideas from the field of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning with methods from Machine Learning, with applications in Natural Languague Processing and Information Retrieval.
