Overview

I am a lecture in the School of Psychology. I have expertise in the field of counselling (motivational interviewing and person centred therapy), behaviour change within public health, adapting public health interventions and qualitative research methods. 

My research interest lie in understanding how counselling techniques can help improve health and wellbeing outcomes. I am also interested in complex public health intervention development and testing as well as adapting public health intervtions for new contexts.

I am also a trained counsellor in both person-centred therapy and motivational interviewing.

Teaching

I currently teach qualitaitive research methods across both the MSc Psychology course and the MSc Children's Psychological Disorders course. I also teach the year 2 academic tutorials and the MSc Psychology seminars.

 I have contributed to the evaluating social practice, policy and innovation (SI0294) within the School of Social Sciences teaching the 2nd year students research design, from 2019-2020. I have led on the motivational interviewing section of the cardiovascular case studies (CVS2), from 2018-2020 and I have also taught on the communication skills course (C21 year 3), from 2017-2018

I have supervised at undergraduate and am currently supervising a PhD student. I have supervised two 4th year medical intercalated research project, an SSC and CUROP medical student and a Masters in Public Health research project to successful completion.

I interestred in research in counselling and health psychology and behaviour change research.
