Overview
Current projects:
1. Investigation of pathologies of immune cells in exocrine pancreas using in situ preparations and two-photon microscopy.
2. Studies of pathologies leading to induction of acute pancreatitis. Main approaches have been described in recently published in Physiological Reviews (Petersen et al 2021 The roles of calcium and ATP in the physiology and pathology of the exocrine pancreas).
3. Improvement of therapeutic treatments for ALL (funded by Children with Cancer UK).
Roles
Module Leader: BI3355 Advances in Physiology and Pathophysiology
Assessment Co-ordinator: BI3253 Advanced Cell Biology and Imaging.

Supervision
Several areas of research are available for a potential project:
1. Investigation of physiology and pathology of exocrine pancreas, including investigations in situ using two-photon microscopy (Gryshchenko et al 2020 Calcium signaling in pancreatic immune cells in situ).
2. Studies of pathologies leading to induction of acute pancreatitis. Different approaches have been recently published in Physiological Reviews (Petersen et al 2021 The roles of calcium and ATP in the physiology and pathology of the exocrine pancreas).
3. Improvement of therapeutic treatments for ALL (funded by Children with Cancer UK). (Peng et al 2018 Galactose protects against cell damage in mouse models of acute pancreatitis).
