Overview
I am a PhD student working within the Experiences of CHildren with cOpy number variants (ECHO) study.
The ECHO study visits children with 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome (22q11.2DS), a genetic syndrome which can affect brain functioning, around every two years.
During our visits we test a variety of brain functions to help us understand brain development as children with 22q11.2DS grow into teenagers and adults.
We also interview parents and children about mental health and behaviour. We can examine the pathway of these over time and investigate the association between behaviour and brain functioning. If the two are linked, it may be possible to develop interventions to benefit both areas of life.
