Overview
I am a final year PhD student in the section of Management, Employment, and Organisation. My current research focuses on fiscal decentralisation, public sector performance, and public accounting and finance. My PhD programme focuses on fiscal decentralisation and healthcare service performance in Chinese provinces. I have published in leading peer-reviewed journals including Public Administration and Local Government Studies. Also, my research focusing on healthcare efficiency in China has been informing scholars and policymakers via Public Management Community (公共管理共同体), the largest public management academic/knowledge sharing platform in China.
Before starting my PhD, I have completed MSc Accounting and Finance and MSc Social Science Research Methods with two distinction degrees at Cardiff University. I also hold a Bachelor of Economics in Public Finance from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (Wuhan, PRC).

Intra-provincial fiscal decentralisation and healthcare service performance: a Chinese-based study
The improvement of healthcare service efficiency and effectiveness is a long-standing consideration of policy-makers, researchers, and the general public in China. Researchers have widely discussed the contributions of fiscal decentralisation (FD) on economic/ and income growth in China, but only a few of them have looked into the impact of FD on healthcare service efficiency and effectiveness, two key dimensions of service performance. To address this gap, this PhD study looks into the impact of FD on the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services in Chinese provincial jurisdictions, from multi-disciplinary perspectives and with the support of a quantitative-dominant mixed-method strategy. This research will not only benefit the academic discussions about FD and public service performance, but also, it will inform policymakers to promote the ongoing FD practices in China and other settings.
