Government, industry and NGO partners

The Observatory has been used for research designed with major land use and water stakeholders. For example, we act as a source of key policy advice to Natural Resources Wales on recovery from acidification, mitigation (eg through liming) and land use. The Llyn Brianne sites represent all key land uses in upland Wales, including conifer, sheepwalk and deciduous woodland. They therefore provide a valuable index of change in the wider environment.

Research training opportunities

Each year the Observatory hosts multiple research projects from undergraduates through to post-doctoral fellows. Many have gone on to work for prestigious organisations including APEM Ltd, Natural England and universities.
