We offer part-time courses, as well as distance learning and blended learning options. These are ideal if you need to balance study with professional, financial or family commitments.
Part-time courses
Many of our academic schools offer part-time postgraduate courses. These offer greater flexibility and a less intensive workload whilst still providing all the benefits and support enjoyed by full-time students.
Length of study
Part-time courses are usually twice as long as their full-time equivalent. You’ll study exactly the same modules as on a full-time course but take them at a slower pace to suit your lifestyle.
Fees for part-time postgraduates
Fees are spread evenly over the length of your course. Part-time fees are indicated on each course listing.
Please be aware that fees quoted are usually for the current or upcoming academic year only, and not necessarily for the entire duration of the programme.
Distance learning
We deliver flexible online programmes to postgraduate students around the world. Our dynamic distance learning programmes allow you to study with us no matter where you live, alongside your work or other commitments.
We offer a number of innovative online programmes spanning a broad range of subject areas. Our online programmes are academically equivalent to qualifications earned through face-to-face learning and we take the delivery of teaching online just as seriously as we do on campus.
The experienced academic team and your personal tutor will ensure you are fully supported in all aspects of your student experience.
Our e-learning community
Our distance learning courses provide you with the flexibility to study in a convenient location and at a time, pace and intensity that suits you.
You will have access to our outstanding range of online resources and become part of our thriving e-learning community, bringing together students and tutors from across the globe and enabling you to enjoy the Cardiff experience no matter where you live.
Blended learning
Some of our programmes are offered as blended learning, combining face-to-face classroom methods with computer-mediated activities or online provision.
Blended learning is an increasingly popular way of studying for a postgraduate qualification, striking a balance between the convenience of online learning and the traditional benefits of face-to-face tuition.
Learning methods
The learning methods for a blended learning programme differ according to the requirements of each particular programme. Typically, most learning will be undertaken online, with the opportunity to attend face-to-face study sessions at the start of a teaching block.
