We are passionate about the profession of pharmacy. Our rich heritage forms a solid foundation upon which our cutting-edge research and innovative approach to education is built.

Within our top-ranked, internationally-recognised School, we have world-leading researchers working on the discovery, development and use of drugs and medicines to tackle some of the most debilitating and life-threatening medical conditions, such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, cancer, diabetes and infectious diseases.

Our dedicated researchers pave the way in creating new, effective methods for delivering these drugs and explore how they can be used to better treat disease. It is the same team of researchers, as well as external expert practitioners, who teach the pharmacists of the future through our undergraduate MPharm programme and our postgraduate programmes.

We collaborate

Being part of such a well-established University, we don’t work in isolation. We have significant research collaborations with our colleagues across and beyond the University’s College of Biomedical and Life Sciences, as well as partners in the NHS and life-science industrial sector.  We know we can achieve so much more when we combine our expertise.

Our students benefit from these strong cross-University connections too. Our commitment to inter-professional and patient-focused education means they gain valuable insight and experience from across the life-science and health care professions which sets them in good stead for their future careers.

We ensure our students are career-ready

We are listed in the Complete University Guide 2020 as the top School offering the MPharm programme throughout England and Wales.

We're proud that  95.7% of our students who sat the General Pharmaceutical Council’s registration exam in 2021 passed first-time, higher than the overall national average of 89.7%. For many years, 100% of our graduates who have applied for pre-registration pharmacy training have been successful in securing a training place.

Our students not only come away with the confidence and ability to become outstanding professional pharmacy practitioners, they also leave as highly-employable graduates with the passion, skills and aptitude to do so much more.
